Schubert: A Collection That Once Again Highlights the Presence of Désert & Strosse A collection of Schubert’s works for four hands by Claire Désert and Emmanuel Strosse, who have been performing as a duo for over 20 years. Although Schubert composed about 30 pieces for four hands, this album features the “Fantasy” he wrote for the countess’s daughter, for whom he harbored romantic feelings, and “The Storms of Life”—noted for its turbulent opening—among others. These pieces, composed during the latter half of his brief life, embody the melancholic and intense musical character characteristic of Schubert’s late works. Désert and Strosse deliver a performance marked by meticulous attention to detail, perfectly synchronized ensemble playing, and refined artistry. King International
