DG debut album by the promising baritone from South Tyrol In August 2020, Deutsche Grammophon signed 35-year-old baritone André Schuen to an exclusive contract, and the announcement came just as he was appearing as Guglielmo in "Cosi fan tutte" at the summer Salzburg Festival. The announcement was made just in time for his performance as Guglielmo in Cosi fan tutte at the Salzburg Festival. This album of "The Beautiful Watermill Girl" is his DG debut album. André Schuen was born in South Tyrol and speaks fluent Italian, German, Ladin (the language of South Tyrol), and of course English. 2016 he was awarded "Young Artist of the Year. Praised by Opera Today for her "intelligence and sensitivity" in singing songs and by Frankfurter Lundschau for her "flawless, stunning voice," she is sought after for operas and concerts. André Schuen and Daniel Heide on piano have been playing together since André was in his early twenties, mutually enhancing each other and serving as ideal musical evangelists. Schubert's song cycle "The Beautiful Watermill Girl," written almost 200 years ago, is one of the finest texts in the art of German song. The duo of Schuen and Heide bring to life the story of a young miller on a journey of apprenticeship who, through a series of songs, finds his way to a peaceful world. Universal Music/IMS
