The new project of Pakistani vocalist Arj Aftab, who won the Best Global Music Performance Award at the 64th Grammy Awards for his song "Mohabbat" and signed with Verve Records, is now available. A trio album with Grammy-nominated pianist Vijay Iyer and bassist Shahzad Ismaili! Recorded live in a New York studio with minimal editing, the work was created in real time with no advance preparation, and the powerful chemistry surprised even these experienced collaborators. Concentrating on the collective creation in real time, the bass, piano, and vocals were breathtakingly integrated. This is truly music of the moment, which cannot be defined in words, but allows the audience to feel a different aspect of the world each time they listen. Ayer said, "This project is very important to me. Making music with Arj and Shahzad is truly an astral experience. It is as if you are listening to music from above while being there. You are in awe of the unassuming and mysterious pieces that seem to have been transported from somewhere else.I can't wait for everyone to hear it, feel it, and live it with me," he said of the album. The trio began when Shahzad Ismaili approached Arj Aftab and Vijay Iyer backstage in New York City after their debut performance in 2018. 'We were onto something from the very beginning. Our relationship was mysterious. I don't know what happened. But let's try again. We looked at each other and said, 'Let's do it again,'" Ayer recalls, and while none of the three had prepared in advance, a strong chemical reaction took place that surprised the staff. Spontaneous music was created by all three together, and each of them remained open, which became the definitive approach in the band at the shows they played before recording their debut album. Vocalist Arj Aftab is the first Pakistani to win a Grammy Award and has captivated audiences around the world with his mesmerizing performances. MacArthur Award winner and Grammy nominee Vijay Iyer is one of the most influential pianists in the world today.On this album, however, the egos of the three players have disappeared, creating a uniquely gorgeous sound.
