Caravan

Finally, the first completely new studio album in 8 years by Caravan, a legendary artist of the Canterbury scene/progressive rock who is still active more than 50 years after their formation in 1968, is now available! The album features Pye Hasting, the founder and reigning principal member of the current band; Jeffrey Richardson, who was a member of Caravan from 1972 to 1981 and returned in 1995; Jan Schelhaas, who also played in Caravan in the mid-period and has been a member of the band since 2002; and Jake Bowie, who has been a member of Caravan since 2002. The strongest lineup is made up of Mark Walker, one of the most versatile drummers who excels in jazz, Latin American music, funk, and folk music, and Lee Pomeroy, a member of ELO and ARW, who has joined the band after Jim Leverton's departure. Jimmy Hastings also joins the band this time on flute. Comprised of nine new songs and one instrumental, the new album, which was influenced by the events and restrictions that have occurred in society over the past 18 months, was recorded at Rimshot Studios in Bledgar "the old fashioned way," as far as restrictions would allow.Pai Hasting said, "We needed a large sound room where we could sit in a circle and see eye to eye. I really like this method, because it allows us to talk to each other when an idea comes to us and encourages us to speak to each other. This is because we can give each other input when ideas come to us and encourage each other with our voices when the whole thing starts to click. It is also much more rewarding to be able to berate each other in person rather than over the phone or via email. This is something we all experience." The result is a work of art that was recorded in person, not remotely. Imported domestic edition (with obi and commentary) Pye Hastings (g, vo) Jeffrey Richardson (va, g, mandolin) Jan Schelhaas(kbds) Mark Walker(ds) Guests Lee Pomeroy (b) Jimmy Hastings(fl)
