Description:
The Széchenyi family flourished in Hungary during the 19th and 20th centuries. Among their many leading figures in liberalism, Imre Széchenyi was an outstanding figure. He was a talented diplomat and served as the Austro-Hungarian ambassador to Berlin, and was friends with many of the leading musicians and politicians of the time, including Liszt, Johann Strauss II, Suppé, Waldteifel, and Bismarck. He wrote many small pieces with familiar melodic lines reminiscent of the Strauss family. He was best known for his dances, and his mazurkas, polkas, and serenades were a great hit with many people. On the previously released album (8.573807), you can hear various dances that he orchestrated himself, and here you can enjoy 22 of them for piano. As in the "Piano Music of the Szechenyi Family" (GP786), the performances are by Kassai and Lázár. Naxos Japan
