Mohamed Feirouz, born in 1985, is a young composer who is attracting worldwide attention, especially in the U.S. His talent was recognized early on, as he was fascinated by Oscar Wilde at the age of 7 and composed several songs for him. He learned various techniques from eminent composers such as Gunther Schuller, Hariem El Dabou, Jorge Ligeti, and John Heiss. As she says herself, "I am obsessed with text," many of her works include vocal music, and the texts she uses range from classical to contemporary. This work, written by internationally acclaimed actress and writer Najla Said, is a poignant portrayal of the tragedies caused by war, especially the situation of children. Recorded in 2015 by Dan Corkwell (tenor)/Michael Kelly (baritone)/Indianapolis Children's Chorus and others. (C)RS
