Description:
After a long hiatus, Levin & AAM resumed recording the complete Mozart: Piano Concertos in the spring of 2023 under a new label. The fourth collection is a collection of concertos composed in Salzburg in 1776. The focus is on the choice of keyboard instruments. In Salzburg at that time, the term "harpsichord" or "clavichord" was used to refer to all keyboard instruments. It is against this background that Mozart wrote "harpsichord" and included the power and weakness markings in his compositions. Levin used a tangent piano (tangent flugel), which is "somewhere between a harpsichord and a fortepiano and has a clavichord-like character" when he worked on these pieces. In the concerto for three keyboard instruments, the addition of the fortepiano and harpsichord creates a brilliant effect of three different tones, It is easier to follow the sound movement of each part.The 64-page booklet (in English only) includes a description of the pieces and profiles of the performers, as well as details on the instruments used, interviews with AAM orchestra members, recollections of the production staff, and more. The cover of the CD series features a painting by Paul Klee, a favorite of AAM's founder, Hogwood. The domestic edition comes with a Japanese commentary by Satoshi Otsu. Naxos Japan
