Fuget / Les Epopees Etc Lully, Jean-Baptiste (1632-1687)
Description:
A sense of unity and spontaneity. The Chateau de Versailles Spectacles" is a recording of the Grand Motet (church music performed by a large instrumental ensemble and chorus) left by Lully, the royal music director of the Sun King Louis XIV, and is performed by the Chateau de Versailles Spectacles. The Chateau de Versailles Spectacles label has been systematically recording the grand motets (church music performed by large instrumental ensembles and chorus) left by Lully, the royal music director of the Sun King Louis XIV, and this fourth album features Lully's masterpiece, "Te Deum", which is a favorite for royal celebrations and other joyous occasions. (Lully injured his leg with a cane while playing this piece, which led to his death two months later. The opening of this impressive work, which begins with a gorgeous brass blast (Charpentier followed suit a little later with a masterpiece of the same type), is a perfect example of Fugé's use of the customs of the time, and he begins the album with music for the celebration of the time, using timpani and trumpets to suggest the entrance of Louis XIV.The interpretation of Lully's works is led by Marie-Ange Petit, a master musician who has supported such frontrunners of the ancient music scene as Les Arts Florissants and Les Talents Liliques, and the natural trumpet playing of the Madouf brothers, who combine wildness and nobility, and their interpretation is free and flexible, and together with the following Psalm 19, they bring out the deepest details. The interpretation of Lully's works, led by the natural trumpet blowing of the Madouf brothers and others, is free and easy, and together with the following Psalm 19, it brings out the deepest and most detailed flavors. The chorus, numbering 50, is composed of the choir of the Centre de la Musique Baroque de Versailles and a small chorus of soloists from the Orchestre de la Résepopeau in Fugé. The chorus is also composed of talented musicians such as Claire Lefriatre and Cyril Oviti, and the instrumentalists, including 24 string players, many wind players, and two each of keyboard and strings, give a spontaneous performance with precise sound production at any stage of the performance. Japanese edition with commentary and lyrics translated into Japanese by Tatsuo Shirasawa, Naxos Japan.
