Description:
Kora player from Conakry, Guinea Republic, West Africa (a typical West African lute-type stringed instrument. It is also famous as the instrument used by the hereditary performing arts group Griau) and vocalist Djerri Moussa Conde. After moving to France, he has participated in the works of Manu Dibango, Salif Keita, Richard Bona, and other greats. In 2003, his album "ADUNA," which he co-produced with Janice DeRosa, a white female blues singer, attracted a great deal of attention. In addition to being an excellent kora player, he is also popular for his powerful vocal style, which is similar to that of Joe Cocker and Tiken Jah Fakhoury, and he has teamed up with Mulatu Astatuke, the "father of Ethio-jazz," and the Bambara-speaking "Bambara Jazz" singer, Tiken Jah Fakhoury, for this album. Gérard Bonghouasse, percussionist and multi-instrumentalist of the popular French Ethio-jazz funk band "Ara Kilo," who is also well known for his collaborations with Mulatu Astatuke, the father of Ethio-jazz, and Mamani Keita, a female singer from Mali with impressive and powerful vocals in the Bambara language. This time, Gérard Bonghouasse has dedicated "Africa Mama" to his mother land: Africa. (C)RS
