The 5th and 6th installments of the collaboration series between VPRECORDS, the world’s largest reggae label, and PANJARECORDS! This time, we’ve selected four tracks from VP’s popular “WE REMEMBER~” tribute series. Of course, all tracks are being released on 7-inch vinyl for the first time ever, and this is a Japan-exclusive release. From the 2016 release *WeRememberDennisBrown* (VP2561). On Side A, young singers Jamelody and Ikaya reimagine “Love Has Found Its Way”—the timeless Jamaican lovers’ masterpiece left behind by Dennis Brown—with a refreshing duet. Although this is a classic with countless covers, surprisingly few have been recorded as male-female duets, giving this version a fresh appeal. Side B features a cover of “Bloody City” by Jah9, a leading female singer in the contemporary modern roots scene whose 2024 Japan tour is still fresh in our memories. Like the famous “Promised Land,” this hidden gem of the roots genre—originally released in 1980 with the British group Aswad providing backing—is recreated with an arrangement faithful to the original. Jah9’s distinctive vocals further enhance the song’s appeal. The second half features a powerful dub version. Due to its exceptional quality, this release—though an exception to the norm—is a 33-rpm B-side-only record, featuring the track in its full length.
