Description:

A collection of beautiful contemporary violin concertos by Baltic composers, overflowing with the flavor of Neo-Romanticism and Neo-Lyricism! A disc of beautiful contemporary violin concertos by Baltic composers of the 20th century, full of the flavor of the New Romanticism and New Lyricism, and a must-listen for fans of Nordic music. Vasks and Juselunas hail from Latvia, while Senderovas hails from Lithuania. Vasks became internationally known about 20 years ago through the efforts of Gidon Kremer, while the other two are almost unknown in Japan. However, both are dramatic and beautiful works that pursue 20th- and 21st-century romanticism, which is distinctly different from the avant-garde school. Vasks' "The Voice of Love" (2009) is a powerful work reminiscent of his masterpiece "Distant Light," and Juselunas, who is regarded as a leading figure in Latvian composition, uses more modern techniques in his "Concerto for Organ, Violin and Strings" than Vasks, who is younger, but still has a strong sense of late Romanticism and Shostakovich The Senderovas Concerto for Organ, Violin, and Strings is a masterpiece that explodes with a dark emotion that is a combination of late Romanticism and Shostakovich. The Senderovas Concerto is quiet from start to finish, with the strings responding to the sobbing melody of the violins with mournful harmonies. The soloist Zelaudas Vidova and the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra give a passionate performance filled with deep empathy for the work.
