World-renowned pianist Igor Levit has established a new label, “NOSILENCE,” and will release three titles as its inaugural lineup. Levit states, “There can never be too many voices reaching out to the world through art. These are voices that speak for beauty, for infinite possibilities, for liberation, and that ask what it means to be human. NOSILENCE is a ‘stance,’" he said, infusing this project with a strong commitment to addressing the crisis of humanity in modern society. The label’s name was inspired by the massacre carried out by Hamas on October 7, 2023, and was officially named following an event held by the Berliner Ensemble titled “Against Silence, Against Anti-Semitism.” The album features Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3, “Eroica” (arranged by Liszt), and Schoenberg’s “Ode to Napoleon.” Conducted by Antonello Manacorda, with the Kammerakademie Potsdam and actress Dorthe Rüssewski, the album creates a unique world where music and narration intertwine. Resisting silence and illuminating the world through music—Igor Levit launches a new “approach.”
