As the title suggests, this 11-track album explores the theme of finding joy and hope during life’s darkest moments, drawing inspiration from the duo’s own experiences with music, marriage, and parenting. This album further evolves the award-winning duo’s signature sound—vocal harmonies, catchy guitar riffs, and a blend of sweetness and power. Throughout the album, there are clear homages to 1970s pop, such as strings and backing vocals reminiscent of Bacharach and The Carpenters. Written and recorded in their own studio and released on their independent label, Archtop Records, this album is their most powerful and most delicate work to date, showcasing their “perfect harmonies” (Rolling Stone). “We learned that ‘making an album centered on joy is one thing, but creating an album from a place of anguish is something entirely different,’ the band says. The harmonies and hooks are imbued with raw emotion. While writing these songs, we delved deep into our own inner selves and realized that when there is joy, life is wonderful. And when joy is lost, hope always remains. And it is that hope that keeps us going. The message of the album is, ‘It’s okay—let’s dance in the kitchen,’” the band says.
