The complete "Brandenburg Concerto" from Collegium 1704 led by Wenceslas Lux! The year 2021 was the 300th anniversary of the dedication of the "Brandenburg Concerto" to the Count of the Brandenburg Frontier. This video was recorded by Collegium 1704 led by Wenceslas Lux in the "Hall of Mirrors" at Köthen Castle, where Bach served as court music director, on the occasion of this anniversary year. This "Hall of Mirrors" is where Bach gave his public performances, and it was here in Köthen that he composed the "Brandenburg Concerto". Bach was court music director in Keten from 1717 to 1723, and it was during this period in Keten that Bach produced many instrumental works of the highest standard, accompanied by a superb orchestra. The Brandenburg Concerto is one of his most famous works.The Brandenburg Concertos are all written in different instrumentation and styles, as evidenced by the fact that Bach's own dedication to the work refers to them as "concertos for various instruments." No. 1 is the largest of the six, with horns, oboes, bassoons, and piccolos as solo instruments. No. 2 is brilliantly orchestrated with trumpet, recorder, oboe, and violin solo instruments. In No. 3, which has no solo instruments, the interplay between the instruments is interesting. The beautiful melody played by the recorder and violin is impressive in No. 4. The harpsichord plays a major role in No. 5. Each of the six pieces has its own unique style, and the audience will be able to enjoy the individuality of the performers. The Collegium 1704 is one of the world's leading Baroque ensembles, and has actively featured the works of Zelenka, the greatest Czech Baroque composer of all time.
