The Lucerne Festival Orchestra Brass Ensemble, founded by the brass section of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, is a group of virtuoso musicians who have performed Mussorgsky's most famous and difficult works, "Pictures at an Exhibition," "A Night on the Bald Mountain," "Songs and Dances of Death," "The Bald Mountain," "The Bald Mountain," and "The Bald Mountain," and has performed these works with the Lucerne Festival Orchestra Brass Ensemble. The album features Mussorgsky's most famous and difficult pieces, "Pictures at an Exhibition," "One Night on Bald Mountain," and "Songs and Dances of Death. Pictures at an Exhibition" was performed by Elgar Haworth, a leading figure in the brass world. The arrangement of "One Night on Bald Mountain" is by Andreas N. Tulkmann, who is well known for his arrangements for brass ensembles. The "Songs and Dances of Death" are newly arranged for brass by trumpeter and arranger Stephen Verhardt, and although the 20-member ensemble is not very large, the superb virtuosity and variety of sounds by the top-notch players, and the ability of the brass instruments to perform to the utmost limit, make for a powerful performance. The performance is a tour de force that even brass aficionados will marvel at.The Lucerne Festival Orchestra Brass Ensemble was founded in 2013 by Claudio Abbado and Michael Heflinger.
