The third volume of Tobias Koch’s Schumann piano works, featuring the pianist at the top of his game! Robert Schumann had eight children with Clara; all but one—who died at a young age—grew up healthy. Schumann composed numerous pieces of music for his children, and this collection brings together those piano works. In addition to the well-known *Album for Children* and its supplement, as well as the *Three Sonatas for Children*, this album features two rare collections of pieces that are believed to be world premiere recordings. The *Birthday Album for Marie* consists of seven simple, short pieces composed for the 7th birthday of his eldest daughter, Marie (1841–1929). The “Short Course in Music History” consists of works by Handel, Bach, Gluck, Mozart, Beethoven (two pieces), Weber, and Schubert, arranged by Schumann for practice. In each piece, one can strongly sense the deep affection of Schumann, who was a devoted father.
