Centered around vocalist Ondrej Hejma, this 1994 album by a Czech blues-rock band active since 1978 has been re-mastered and released with liner notes written by Ondrej Hejma himself. While the core style features simple guitar work layered over a pleasant vocal delivery, multiple guitarists participated in the recording, resulting in an excellent vocal-driven guitar rock album where listeners can enjoy superbly executed performances and phrasing—all without excessive embellishment. Released after years of steady work—including a hiatus in the ’80s—this album features the hit song “Sametova” and stands as a landmark work that marked the band’s first commercial success. Subsequently, in 1996, they won the Czech Music Academy Award for Band of the Year, which served as a springboard for the band’s success. Simple yet captivating guitar work—evoking the influence of Led Zeppelin—leads the songs, and the album is brought together with accessible arrangements that exude a pop sensibility capable of appealing to a wide range of listeners.
