Description:
Here comes an album of rare orchestral works by the Vranitzky brothers, who were admired by Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven. Paul (Pavel) Vranitzky (1756-1808) was born in the Czech Republic and studied under Joseph Martin Krauss. He was active in Vienna as a composer, violinist, and organist of classical music. He was known as a close friend of Mozart, who was born in the same year as Mozart, and Mozart thought highly of him. He was also a conductor who was respected by Mozart and many others, and Beethoven commissioned him to premiere his "First Symphony" and Haydn his oratorio "The Four Seasons". It is said that he was also a member of the Freemasons. He composed numerous operas, ballets, symphonies, concertos, and chamber music. His younger brother, Antonin Vranitsky (1761-1820), a composer and violinist who is said to have studied under Mozart, Haydn, and Albrechtsberger, was also active in Vienna. Both were popular composers in Vienna at the time, and many variations on their themes were written by other composers. Conductor Howard Griffiths is a scholar of the hidden music of the classical period and has revived and re-performed many of their works. The orchestra also supports young artists, and here again, two up-and-coming soloists have been selected to perform. The Turkish-born violinist Velko Tunbulise studied with Dora Schwarzenberg in Vienna and is currently studying with Chumachenko at the Munich University of Music. In 2012, he won the International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Performers in Montreux/Vevey, Switzerland, and in 2013 he participated in Seiji Ozawa's Academy in Verbier. The instrument is an Amati from 1540. The cellist Chiara Enderle made her debut with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich in 2013 with a concerto by Schumann, and in the same year won the Lutoslawski Cello Competition and the Pierre Fournier Prize in London.
