Peter Dijkstra’s “Fauré’s Requiem” This is a new recording by Peter Dijkstra, who was born in the Netherlands in 1978. Until his voice broke, he sang as a boy soprano in the Roden Boys’ Choir in the Netherlands. He later served as the leader of the Dutch ensemble “Gents,” and went on to become the principal conductor of the Swedish Radio Choir and the music director of the Bavarian Radio Choir. Although he has released numerous CDs to date, surprisingly, this is his first recording of Fauré’s Requiem. While several different versions of this work exist, he has chosen the 1893 version, which is performed by a small orchestra. This crystal-clear sound, enhanced by two outstanding soloists, radiates even greater beauty. Another highlight is the meticulous performance of Poulenc, a composer in which Dijkstra excels.
