Description:

Mozart concertos performed by the principal wind players of the Staatskapelle Dresden and others. The elegant sound of each concerto is reproduced in high sound quality! Newly reissued from the original ETERNA analog tapes in Japan, this is the world's first SACD release except for DISC3! Mastered only in the analog domain and converted directly to DSD! The 12th SACD hybridization of the latest reissue project of ETERNA's original analog tapes in Japan, Mozart's concertos for wind instruments by the great players of the former East Germany are collected in a 3-disc set. All are backed by the Staatskapelle Dresden, and the recordings date from the 1970s, and some from the early '80s. The clarinet concertos are performed by other orchestras, but the ETERNA recordings are also very well received by listeners for their dark, yet rich sound. Tower Records has already reissued the Vienna Philharmonic Principal Player's version of the same piece on SACD hybrid (PROC2131), conducted by Böhm. It would be interesting to compare them as the same high-quality recording. Flutist Johannes Walter (1937-) was a member of the SKD for one year from 1959, and after serving as principal of the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra from 1960, he returned to the SKD as a solo flutist from 1963 to 2003.Many of his beautiful tones can be heard on the SKD recording (the jacket for this issue is the one from the single sale). Kurt Mahn (1923-2015), oboe, is another well-known player who was the face of the orchestra and reigned as solo oboe from 1949 to 1990, including many orchestral recordings during his 40+ year tenure. Peter Dam (1937-) is a well-known and well-known player who became solo horn player in 1969 and remained with the orchestra until 2002. This recording is well-known as the first recording, and has already been released once as a SACD hybrid disc in Japan (the master used here is different from the previous one, since the original analogue master tape from the country's collection was newly used). Peter Damm re-recorded the orchestra with the Marriner & Academy Chamber Orchestra in 1988, which was also released as a Tower release (PROC1804). Günter Klier was the solo bassoonist from 1975 to 2007, and this recording was made in 1982 during his tenure. And Jutta Zoff (1928-2019) was SKD's solo harpist from 1967 to 1988.Finally, the soloist in the clarinet concerto this time is Oskar Michalik (1923-), who was first principal of the Staatskapelle Berlin in 1949 and then principal of the Komische Oper Berlin in 1961, and the reason it was recorded at the same time as the bassoon concerto is The reason why it was recorded at the same time as the bassoon concerto is unknown, but he is a virtuoso player with a good old German sound. He is a virtuoso with a good German sound of the good old days, although the reason why he was recorded at the same time as the bassoon concerto is not known. (1/2)
