Here comes the long-awaited second collection of works by Kevin Hoven, a pupil of Jan van der Roost and a highly acclaimed composer of many of his works. The title tune, "The Forgotten World," is a work written for the St. Hubertus Fanfare Orkest of the Kingdom of Belgium, recomposed for wind band. The style of the piece alternates between serious and cheerful passages. Although a fanfare band version has been previously recorded, this is the first time a brass band version has been recorded, making it a long-awaited source. The music is based on "The Tale of the Fox," a collection of nearly 30 animal tales written in France from the late 12th to the mid-13th century, and is full of drama, just like film music, with the "Tale of the Fox" richly illustrated with scenes such as the trial of Noble the Lion King (trial of the fox) and the "Sword of Ninety" kept at the Tower of London as its motif. The album contains eight works and one bonus track, including "The Broken Sword," a dramatic piece based on the motif of the "Sword of Ninety," which is kept in the Tower of London. The collection is rich in emotion, and is recommended for a wide range of brass band enthusiasts and instructors alike.
