Description:
Mariinsky Theatre productions on BRD and DVD! Gergiev celebrates the Verdi Year with his powerful "Attila," and Abdrazakov's Attila, which he also sang at the Met, is amazing! The Mariinsky label has finally released a Blu-ray disc and DVD of the opera. The program is Verdi's "Attila. Verdi's "Attila" is an opera that premiered in Venice in March 1846. Attila was a real king of the Huns in the first half of the 5th century. He led a powerful army and expanded his power westward, terrorizing the Western Roman Empire. This is a powerful work that combines this historical fact with a story of love and revenge. Although not a major work, it was relatively common in Verdi's operas of the mid-1840s, and in recent years, Muti is known to have frequently featured this work.Muti also sang "Attila" in his late debut at the Met in February 2010, and the title role was sung by Ildar Abdrazakov, who also sang Attila here. The title role at that time was sung by Ildar Abdrazakov, who also sang Attila here. Abdrazakov, who has inherited the tradition of heavy Eastern European basses and also specializes in Rossini, is a perfect match for the powerful yet highly athletic Attila. His appearance, which suggests that he is of Asian descent, is also perfect for the role of Attila. Anna Markarova, who sings the heroine Odabella, is a surprisingly talented young singer from the Mariinsky Theatre. Although she is still a very young soprano, she is very talented and sings the difficult role of Odabella with great skill. The important role of Ezio is played by Vladislav Slimski. It is still fresh in our minds that he sang in Enrico in Donizetti's "Lucia" at the Mariinsky Theatre in Japan in November 2012. He is the most popular baritone in Russia today. Forrest's Sergei Skorokhodov is a tenor born in his hometown of St. Petersburg. He too is a graduate of the Mariinsky Theatre Academy and has been a member of the Mariinsky Theatre since 2007. Arturo Garma's direction is solid and traditional. It is well matched with Gergiev's dynamic music making, and you will enjoy "Attila". King International
