Description:
The operetta "Hélène BEAUTIFUL" by Offenbach, based on the Greek myth "The Judgment of Paris" and satirizing the society of the time, has been performed worldwide since its premiere in 1864. This video shows the colorful stage and the colorful stage. This video shows the 2014 performance at the Hamburg Opera House, directed by Renaud Doucet, whose colorful stage productions have attracted much attention. Renaud Doucet is also the choreographer and has teamed up with André Barbe, who is in charge of stage and costume design, to create a number of beautiful stage productions as Barbe & Doucet. In this colorful and unique production, "Beautiful Hélène" takes place on a cruise liner in the 1960s, during the era of "Flower Power" (a counter-movement of young people advocating love and peace using flowers as symbols) that erupted in the United States. After an overture, the story begins thus.Hélène and her husband Menelaus, a middle-class couple, are about to board a cruise ship. Menelaus is interested in the cheap replicas of Greek sculptures being brought on board as cargo, but he is indifferent to his wife Hélène. Hélène, on the other hand, is attracted to Paris, a handsome man who is about to board the ship... The singers are superbly played by Jennifer Larmour as Hélène, who displays her natural grace and charm. And as her husband Menelaus, Peter Geyerl, who is active mainly at the Hamburg Opera. The colorful costumes of the 1960s and the humorous staging, which moves at a lively tempo with a sense of improvisation, draw the audience in visually and with the story. King International
