The Marian Consort was formed in 2007 at Oxford University by Rory McCreery, a young countertenor who started his career as a boy choir member at Edinburgh St. Mary's Cathedral. The Marian Consort, a vocal ensemble formed at Oxford University in 2007 and named after the "Virgin Mary", has emerged like a comet in the world of vocal and ancient music in the UK! Based on the research and historical research of their leader, Lorrie McCreary, who is also a musicologist, the Consort continues to work on church music of all periods, mainly from the 15th to 17th centuries. The key point of this year's "Music for the Queen of Heaven" is the participation of Charlotte Ashley and Guy Cutting, who came to Japan last June on the Tallis Scholars' Japan tour. The Marian Consort's eighth recording is "Motets for the Virgin Mary," a collection of motets by composers active or in the process of becoming active from the 20th century to the present day that combines refined melodic beauty and a majestic atmosphere.
