Delphian's second release of Russian songs is a collection of Metonel songs, a sequel to his critically acclaimed Rachmaninoff: Songs (DCD34127), which was named Editor's Choice by BBC Music Magazine and Gramophone Magazine, and nominated for the Gramophone Award 2014. Delphian's song cycle is the sequel to the internationally acclaimed Rachmaninoff: Songs (DCD34127). Accompanied by renowned song accompanist Ian Burnside, Nicolai Mettener's song cycle is now available! The recording was made in response to a review in the May 2014 issue of BBC Music Magazine, which stated, "We want Mettener next! As on the previous recording, the experienced Ian Burnside has assembled six young, active singers to suit the songs, and the result is both a Germanic work based on Goethe's poems and a Russian side based on Pushkin's poems. Another highlight is the brilliant piano writing of Metonel, who was also an excellent pianist. Tokyo M-Plus
