Meridian has been expanding their fan base with their mysterious musicality that mixes electronic music, krautrock, exotica, and psychedelic rock, based on traditional Colombian music. The theme of their latest album is a challenging one, exploring the possibilities of the electric guitar while staying within the context of tropical Latin music. Taking inspiration from the golden age of rumba congolese, highlife, and afrobeat, as well as the South American music influenced by them - champeta, cumbia, and chicha, and the Brazilian tropicália and angla psychedelia - the album eschews distortion and cliché in favor of a pure and clean approach, avoiding distortion and clichés. The result is a fearless sonic experimentation infused with discovery, invention, playfulness, and emotion, resulting in an unparalleled, blistering sound.This is a very strong piece of work, including the artwork by Matteo Rivano, a well-known artist.
