Description:
Following the first collection (777758), Hermann Baumer and the Mainz State Philharmonic Orchestra present a collection of symphonies by the German composer Gernsheim (1839-1916). The Symphony No. 2, premiered by the composer himself in Rotterdam on March 16, 1882, is reminiscent of Brahms's Symphony No. 2 with its characteristic horn tone. His last symphony, "No. 4," premiered in Berlin in 1895, is a music that truly expresses the musical landscape of the time (influences of Brahms, Bruckner, Wagner, etc.) rather than a strong personality, and the explosion of joy in the final movement in particular shows a masterful compositional technique. This is an undiscovered work that draws on the currents of German Romanticism. Naxos Japan
