Description:

This is a collection of works by Lentchen, a familiar name in cpo. Lentchen (1855-1932) was a fine pianist and a proficient viola player, so his works for piano and strings are well known, but he also wrote a small number of works for wind instruments, all of which are excellent. The Serenade No. 1 and the Ninth Quartet were probably inspired by Mozart's works and Beethoven's Octet. The style is also classical and neatly presented. The second serenade, however, shows more fluid and free harmonies. This one may have been influenced by French music. The Trio is also extremely attractive music. It is performed by the Linos Ensemble, a highly acclaimed ensemble based in Berlin. This is a masterful performance that evokes fresh joy. Naxos Japan
