It is said that this was what people in the Eastern Orthodox Church at that time said about the "Liturgy of St. Johannes Chrysostomus," which Rachmaninoff composed for a capella chorus. Sigvars Kryava, principal conductor and artistic director since 1992, conducted the Latvian Radio Choir in a recording session at Riga Cathedral, and the performance is sure to become a new reference for this work. Riga, the capital of Latvia, is a city with various historical buildings of Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque styles. The symbol of the city, Riga Cathedral, was built in 1201, when the city of Riga was founded, and the current structure dates from the late 18th century. It is famous for its historic pipe organ.
