Description:
Brad Meldor is the No. 1 pianist on the jazz scene today and one of the most influential jazz pianists of our time.In 2018, he released "SEYMOUR READS THE CONSTITUTION!" in a trio formation with Larry Grenadier (b) and Jeff Ballard (dr), which includes jazz numbers, covers of standard numbers, and new music by the trio, also in 2018. In 2018, he released "AFTER BACH," an innovative work that expresses the great father of music, Bach, as a master of "improvisation" with his unique sensibility and interpretation, and in 2017, "CHRIS THILE & BRAD MEHLDAU," a supreme album of musical sparks with his labelmate, Chris Seeley of the Punch Brothers. In 2017, he released the supreme album "CHRIS THILE & BRAD MEHLDAU" with labelmate Chris Seeley of the Punch Brothers, and continues to release a variety of works in ways that transcend orchestration/genre, and has already completed his latest work! Inspired by the Bible, this latest album is titled "FINDING GABRIEL," after the archangel Gabriel, who appears in the Old Testament book of Daniel and is also depicted in Leonardo da Vinci's "Annunciation. I came up with the title after reading the Bible closely over the past few years," he said.Among them, the prophetic passages in the books of Daniel and Hosea really resonated with me. The Bible felt like an inevitable outcome, a signpost in modern life" - Brad Meld - the archangel Gabriel, who helps humans to use their inspiration and intuition by conveying the word of God to them. This latest work, titled "Gabriel," is the first collaboration with the brilliant drummer Mark Juliana in five years, since the release of "Taming the Dragon" in 2014. TAMING THE DRAGON. The music is built from his drums and the OB-6 synthesizer developed by Dave Smith and Tom Oberheim, and then layered with human chorus, piano, percussion, and other sounds to create "FINDING GABRIEL," a truly epic spectacle. The result is a diverse sound world that could be described as a grand spectacle. The breadth of the sound world can be seen by listening to the song "The Garden".An important element of the album as a pure way to weave harmony and emotion into the songs are the chorus parts by Becca Stevens, Kurt Ehring, Gabriel Kahane, and Merdeau himself. Also noteworthy is the orchestration, which gives the album an even more grandiose feel. The rousing performances by Ambrose Akinmusire (tp), Joel Frahm (ts), and Sarah Caswell (vln) are also brilliant.
