Giovanni Di Cecco, an Italian keyboardist, is working toward completing a complete recording of Mozart’s “Piano Sonatas” on the clavichord. Di Cecco, who studied philosophy at the University of Venice, has recorded “Complete Sonatas, Volume 5,” which includes “K. 457” and “K. 475”—works that evoke the music of Bach and seem to anticipate Beethoven’s style— as well as “K. 330,” a work brimming with Mozart’s distinctive character that belongs to neither the post-Bach nor pre-Beethoven eras. He attempts to recreate the sound of the era using a clavichord, an instrument that held a prominent place as one of the mainstream keyboard instruments during Mozart’s lifetime. Please enjoy this fresh and captivating portrayal of Mozart. The instrument used is a 1770 Saxon-model clavichord built in 2018 by Joris Potthoff in Belgium. Tokyo M Plus
