Description:
Sparkling orchestral sound! Prokofiev, Poulenc, and Britten Sinfonietta recorded by the Lahti Symphony Orchestra led by Slobodenyuk! The aSACD hybrid disc. Featured conductor Dima Slobodenyuk recorded Poulenc, Prokofiev and Britten Sinfonietta! Slobodeniuk was born in Moscow in 1975 and moved to Finland at the age of 17 to study conducting at the Sibelius Academy with Leif Segerstam and Jorma Panula; she became the principal conductor of the Lahti Symphony Orchestra in the fall 2016 season, and has recorded the Kalevala Scenes on the BIS label (BIS SA-2371) and "Prokofiev: Four Depictions and Conclusion from the Opera "The Gambler" and Suite from the Ballet Music "Stone Flower" (BIS SA-2301), among other releases. He is a conductor of the moment, making debuts with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. He had attempted to compose a string quartet, but gave it up because the image of the quartet did not suit his taste at the trial stage. The quartet is in four movements, and the performance lasts about 26.5 minutes. It is rich in content and has a stylish melody, as is typical of Poulenc. Prokofiev dedicated this Sinfonietta to his teacher Cherepnin in 1909. It was revised in 1914 and 1929.It is one of Prokofiev's most joyous works, but in this performance it is performed in its final revised version. Britten's memorable Op. 1 Sinfonietta, a product of 1932, when he was an 18-year-old student at the Royal Academy of Music, is a three-movement work dedicated to Frank Bridge, who had studied composition privately since 1927. Originally intended for wind and string quintet, it was first performed in 1933 and revised in February 1936 with the addition of horns and a small string orchestra. In this performance, the work is performed in the small orchestral version. The Sinfonietta on this album shares the same original different orchestration and revisions, but the composer's feelings toward the work are more concentrated and unique, and Slobodenyuk's profound interpretation is also evident in his performance!
