A collection of Bach's Doppel-Concerts for harpsichord, performed by Masaaki and Masato Suzuki, father and son! The two harpsichord versions of the Wind Suite No. 1, arranged by Masaaki and Masato Suzuki, are also available on SACD hybrid disc. The latest recording by the Bach Collegium Japan is a collection of J.S. Bach's concertos for two harpsichords, performed by father and son Masaaki and Masato Suzuki, and a two harpsichord version of Orchestral Suite No. 1 in C major, BWV 1066, arranged by Masato Suzuki. The works on this disc are all in the key of "C," giving the album a sense of unity throughout. The original of No. 1, BWV 1060, is considered a concerto for oboe and violin, and is a work that stands out for its charm, with a well-defined sectional structure and charming echoes. Unlike the other harpsichord concertos, No. 2 BWV 1061 is considered to be an original work, not an arrangement, since it is entirely clavier-like in conception.The work is a beautifully colored concerto in which the two harpsichords interact with each other. No. 3, BWV 1062, is a harpsichord arrangement of the famous Concerto for two violins in D minor, BWV 1043, in which the two instruments stand in an antagonistic relationship, constantly imitating each other, but the harpsichord performance of this masterpiece is more decorative and sparkling. The Orchestral Suite No. 1 in C major, BWV 1066, is a two harpsichord version arranged by Yuto Suzuki. This work is most faithful to the traditional French style of orchestral suites, but it is beautifully expressed through the interplay between the two harpsichords. ＜Yuto Suzuki (harpsichord) was born in 1981 in the Netherlands. After graduating from the Department of Composition at Tokyo University of the Arts and the Department of Ancient Music at the same university, he completed his master's degree in organ at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, the Netherlands, at the top of his class in 2007. In September of the same year, he became the first Japanese to complete the improvisation course at the same conservatory with honors.He also studied harpsichord at the Amsterdam Conservatory. Currently, he is a member of the Bach Collegium Japan and performs chamber music, harpsichord and organ solos in Japan and abroad. King International
