Bad Company, one of the pioneering "super bands" that shone on the British rock scene in the 70's, has started a "Deluxe Edition" series in 2015, consisting of the latest remastering of the original album and a bonus disc on 2 CDs. The "Deluxe Edition" series, which started in 2015 and consists of the latest remastering of the original albums plus a bonus disc on 2 CDs, is now entering its final spurt! Recorded over several weeks in the late summer of 1978 at Ridge Farm Studios in Surrey, England, DESOLATION ANGELS is the fifth in the band's 40th year of releases. Upon its release in March 1979, the album reached #3 on the U.S. Albums Chart and #10 on the UK Albums Chart. It was certified as a double platinum album in the United States. The album was a Top 20 hit in the U.S. and spawned such hits as "Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy," which became the band's biggest hit single in the U.S., and "Gone, Gone, Gone.Other songs on the album include fan favorites "Evil Wind" and "Rhythm Machine," as well as "Oh, Atlanta," which was later covered by Alison Krauss. The deluxe edition of DESOLATION ANGELS, released to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the original album, is a 2-CD set featuring remastered material from the original album on CD1 and previously unreleased songs and unreleased versions on CD2. CD1 remastered material is from the 2019 newly remastered from the original multi-track master tapes for the studio album box set released in August 2019. And CD2 features seven alternate versions of songs from the album. These include the single "Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy," alternate versions of "Early In The Morning" and "She Brings Me Love," and a slow version of "Oh, Atlanta" with added Fender Rhodes.In addition, it is worth noting that CD2 also contains two previously unreleased outtakes. One of them, "Smokin' 45," is the first time this take has been released, although another version was included on the best of 1999 album. The other song, "Rock Fever," is a previously unreleased track that has never appeared on any album or compilation. DESOLATION ANGELS" features Paul Rodgers' increasingly brilliant vocals and a collection of acoustic and pop tunes along with hard-hitting numbers. This deluxe album is a 200% amplification of the band's musical depth and charm!
