David Coverdale is joined by guitarist Reb Beach, bassist Michael Devin, guitarist Joel Hoekstra, who is making his first appearance on a Whitesnake album with this album, and drummer Tommy Aldridge, who is making his first appearance on a Whitesnake album since 1989's SLIP OF THE The band recorded 2015's THE PURPLE ALBUM with a lineup that included drummer Tommy Aldridge, who became involved in his first Whitesnake studio album since 1989's TOUNGUE. On this album, they have recorded a number of gems from Deep Purple's "BURN" (1974), "Stormbringer" (1974), and "Come Taste the Band" (1975), which were released during David Coverdale's tenure, as well as "Lay Down The band has taken fan favorites such as "Stay Down," "Lady Double Dealer," and "You Keep On Moving" and rearranged them in the Whitesnake style to create a new collection of songs.The 2CD/Blu-ray edition of "THE PURPLE ALBUM: SPECIAL GOLD EDITION" includes the latest remixed and remastered material from the original album, as well as six previously unreleased alternate mixes of songs from the album and live material from The Purple Tour, The Blu-ray includes live footage from The Purple Tour, including "The Gypsy" and "Mistreated," official music videos, and a song commentary by David Coverdale. footage, and behind-the-scenes footage from the making of the album back in 2015. In addition, this 2CD/Blu-ray edition includes four previously unreleased demos that David Coverdale submitted to Deep Purple in hopes of becoming Deep Purple's next singer, a rare and exciting treasure of rock history. The album contains four previously unreleased and exciting demo recordings that are truly treasures of rock history.An open-reel tape that he had recorded with his band, The Fabrosa Brothers, in 1972 was accidentally discovered among his late mother's belongings, and a large restoration of the sound recorded on the tape is included in this album. In the liner notes for this album, Cavadale writes of this tape: "I can't believe my mother had this tape. I had no idea that my mother had this tape... For me, it was a gift from heaven to be able to open a trunk full of her personal belongings 30 years after she passed away. The album also includes several demo recordings that Coverdale had recorded while writing songs for Deep Purple's 1974 album "STORMBRINGER." (2/2)
