Since his debut in 1984, Dwight Yoakam has become one of the most popular artists on the contemporary country scene with his country rock sound based on the Bakersfield sound dominated by Buck Owens and Merle Haggard. He has released 17 studio albums to date, with more than 30 songs on the U.S. Country Song Chart and numerous platinum discs, and has sold more than 25 million albums to date, making him an artist with an extremely strong presence.While firmly rooted in his roots, he also incorporates sounds of Americana, rock, pop, and soul, singing the very heart and soul of America, and he is also an actor.
