Description:
Just nine months after the release of his album *Revival* in December 2017, Eminem unexpectedly dropped a new album today, August 31, titled *Kamikaze*. Serving as a milestone—his 10th studio album—with Dr. Dre and Eminem serving as executive producers, the 13-track album includes the theme song “Venom” for the movie *Venom* (a *Spider-Man* spin-off), which is scheduled for release in Japan on November 2. , as well as guest appearances by Royce da Five-Nine, singer-songwriter Jessie Reyes, and up-and-coming MC Joiner Lucas. This album, which showcases Eminem’s “serious” side, is definitely one to watch! Eminem’s Serious Side [Part 1]: A Tribute to the Beastie Boys’ Historic Masterpiece! The album’s artwork is already generating a lot of buzz. The cover art, featuring an illustration of an airplane, appears to pay homage to the Beastie Boys’ debut album *Licensed to Ill*, released in 1986 and renowned as a masterpiece in hip-hop history. The aircraft bears the inscription “FU2” = “FuckYouToo,” and the mysterious letters “TIKCU5” above it—which, when flipped horizontally, actually spell out “SUCKIT,” echoing the “FuckYouToo” below. In fact, the Beastie Boys’ album also featured the mysterious letters “3MTA3,” which, when flipped horizontally, spell out “EATME” = “EatMe”—a clever touch that really shows their attention to detail. Furthermore, on the back cover of the album, the front section of an airplane is depicted crashing—a direct reference to the Beastie Boys’ album, revealing an extraordinary level of homage. Eminem’s Serious Side [Part 2]: The Source Is Japan! He Sampled a Japanese Anime Song—Who Would’ve Thought?! The track sampled in the 12th song on the album, “GoodGuy,” is none other than “Glassy Sky,” an insert song from the second season of the popular Japanese anime *Tokyo Ghoul*. Eminem sampled the female vocal part of this song—released under the name Yutaka Yamada—at an accelerated tempo. This is clearly stated in the credits as follows! Contains excerpts from “Glassy Sky,” produced by Yutaka Yamada with lyrics by Lisa Gomamoto and Norio Joseph Aono. Used by permission and courtesy of Marvelous Inc. All Rights Reserved.
