Maria João Pires is still fresh in our memories for her magnificent performances of Beethoven’s Piano Concertos No. 3 and No. 4 with Harding and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. For her performance of the “Piano Concerto No. 3” with Brüggen and the 18th-Century Orchestra at the 2012 “Chopin and His Europe Music Festival,” she played a period piano (an Érard built in 1849)! Beethoven with Brüchen, and her first recording on a period piano. Stay tuned! “Breath of the Orchestra” (approx. 45 minutes) is a documentary filmed at the 2013 “Chopin and His Europe” Music Festival.
