Under Me Sleng Teng", the sparkler of digital dancehall productions created using a Japanese rhythm box with built-in Casio tone, is being reissued by Greensleeves on 7" in a special sleeve and original label to celebrate the 40th anniversary of its release! At the time of its release in 1985, this work triggered the "COMPUTERIZED" movement, a digital revolution led by PRINCE JAMMY that spread throughout Jamaica and created a huge boom in the dance hall scene. Today, computerized music production is commonplace, and it is now possible to freely manipulate sounds, but back then there were many technical limitations and the sounds that could be produced were limited. This is why the rugged and unique digital sounds of the 80s that were born are still uniquely appealing today. Furthermore, "UNDER ME SLENG TENG" was sampled by artists such as THE PRODIGY and SL2, and is an important work that had a great impact on the drum'n'bass/jungle/rave scene.Today, this timeless dancehall anthem continues to bring dance to the floor from sound systems in Japan and around the world. A must have for all dancehall fans.
