The one and only solo masterpiece by one of the greatest saxophonists in Jamaican music history, Deadly Headley Bennett, released on On-U Sound, is finally being reissued! The late Deadly Headley Bennett, the greatest saxophonist and most important sideman in the golden age of Jamaican music, known for his participation in hundreds of recordings during his long and illustrious career, has released his one and only solo LP in 1982, and now it is finally being reissued! After attending Jamaica's Alpha Boys School, which produced many of the famous musicians that give this album its title, Deadly Headley Bennett went on to back such stars as Bob Marley and Alton Ellis during the 1960s and '70s, and then to play with the Sound Dimension, the Aggrovators, and the Aggrovators. From the 1960s to the 1970s, he backed such stars as Bob Marley and Alton Ellis, played a key role in such renowned groups as The Sound Dimension, The Aggrovators, The Revolutionaries, and The Soul Syndicate, and worked with legendary producers such as Coxsone Dodd and Bunny Lee.Produced by Adrian Sherwood and a showcase for the unique talents of Headley Bennett, this 1982 release featured Style Scott, Bim Sherman, George Oban, Lizard Logan, Crucial Tony, Bonjo Ayabingi Noah and others were assembled for this set. The CD also includes two previously unreleased bonus tracks, and Vinyl was recut by Frank Merritt at The Carvery.
