Jaco Pastorius, the genius bassist who died at the young age of 35 with only two official studio albums to his credit, left Weather Report in 1982, where he had been since the mid-1970s, and formed the Word of Mouth Big Band to perform the songs from his second album, "Word Of Mouth," released in 1981. This album contains the complete performance on the last day of the tour, which took place on May 22, 1983 at Shinjuku Kosei-Nenkin Kaikan. The performance was a big hit, as Katsumi Watanabe was recommended by Mike Stern to take the guitarist's place on short notice.
