Canadian guitarist/songwriter Bernie LaBarge's 1983 melodic hard AOR masterpiece "Bargin' In" has been reissued in a 2CD deluxe edition with the latest remastering and tons of additional bonuses! Bonuses include 14 rare/unreleased tracks, including the hit single "Dream Away" produced by Daniel Lanois, 1972's "Catwalk" and a remix of "(You Gotta) Work For Me". The original multitrack tapes left at Metalworks Studios in Toronto have been digitized and brought back to life in great sound with the help of many excellent engineers. Born in Ottawa, Canada, Bernie LaBarge started playing guitar at the age of 11, and in the 1970s he became the front man and guitarist for many popular Canadian bands such as Bond, Rain, Sweet Blindness, Zwol, Stem, Stingaree, The Dexters He was the frontman and guitarist for many popular Canadian bands in the 1970s, including Bond, Rain, Zwol, Stem, Stingaree and The Dexters.In 1981, his single "Dream Away," produced by Daniel Lanois, was a hit, and he continued to write songs as a solo artist until 1983, when he released this album. This album, which was nominated for Best Male Vocalist in 1984 at the Juno Awards, Canada's Grammy Awards, features a voice that has both a bouncy power on the fast songs and a soft, emotional tenderness on the sweeter songs, as well as a hard sound like Steely Dan, whom he himself describes as an influence, and a catchy, soft melody, and grandiose sketches. The sound, the catchy and soft melodies, and the hard-edged guitars that give a sense of grand scale make this a melodic hard-pop AOR masterpiece. In addition to the original album, 14 additional rare tracks of unreleased sound sources and remixes produced around the same time are included.
