The master of the piano, who has earned the trust of classical music lovers and critics around the world, has taken the opportunity to record Brahms's two concertos for ECM. The latest definitive edition of the two Brahms concertos, which he also conducts himself, showcases his full range and maturity with the orchestra in every direction. In recent years, Schiff, who has performed with most of the world's top orchestras and conductors, has been focusing on playing the piano and conducting orchestras himself, and in 1999 he founded his own chamber orchestra, Capella Andrea Barca, which toured Japan the year before last to great acclaim. The piano Schiff used for the recording is an original instrument made by Brüttner around 1859.
