The main piece is "The Nutcracker," arranged by Tchaikovsky's favorite pupil Taneyev. Tchaikovsky is said to have complained about the difficulty of this piece, and there has been no proper recording of it until now.The pas de deux that Burgmuller, known for his piano exercises, inserted into Adan's "Giselle" and the last waltz in "Cinderella," which Johann Strauss devoted himself to but left unfinished in the year of his death, are also of interest to classical music fans.
