Description:
This is the second collection of orchestral works by Spanish composer Granados (1867-1916). Following the first collection (8.573263), this series was produced to commemorate the 100th anniversary of his death, and this album also features rare works, some of which are world premiere recordings, making it a welcome addition to the series for fans of Spanish music. The interlude from his masterpiece, the opera "Goyescas," is a masterpiece that symbolizes all of Spanish music. Although we usually have the opportunity to hear the piano arrangement of this piece, the orchestral version has even more vivid colors. The "Dance of the Green Eyes" is dedicated to the famous flamenco dancer Antonia Merce, and the "Dance of the Gypsies" to another dancer, Tortola Valencia. These two also feature intense rhythmic exchanges written in a rather distinctive style. The symphonic poem "Night of the Dead Man," which shows the influence of Franck and Debussy, and the symphonic poem "Dante," the largest in the album, are Granados' most ambitious works, revealing a magnificent world in which one can glimpse his views on life and death.
