Description:

The Four Seasons" resonates with the various tones of Renaud Capuçon! The coupling is a violin concerto by Saint-Georges, who has a brown complexion due to his African mother's blood. In the fall of 2021, Renaud Capuçon was appointed Artistic Director of the Orchestre de chambre de Lausanne. The first full-fledged recording by this duo (who also play violin) was highly acclaimed for Arvo Pärt's transcendent performance of space and time concepts. Their second album is a recording of "Vivaldi: The Four Seasons," a masterpiece among masterpieces. Now that period instruments are the mainstream and there are almost no recordings on modern instruments, the significance of daring to perform on a modern instrument must be questioned. Violin technique and expression are constantly expanding, and the velvety color and expression of the modern violin strings often give the tutti an almost spiritual dimension. Capuçon's vast musical experience and versatile abilities are expressed most importantly in the richness of the songfulness of his playing. However, it is noteworthy that the modern interpretation of this piece is to maintain the tension of the sound by adding or subtracting vibrato, and by adding or subtracting intensity of the sound. Renaud Capuçon's emotional melodies and harmonies, which cannot be expressed by period instruments, are all that he wants to express.Renaud Capuçon, as artistic director, has permeated this musical moment with his own ideas and succeeded in bringing it to an extraordinary level, but without deviating from the orthodox style at all, depicting a naturalistic portrayal. The coupling to this "Four Seasons" is a work by Saint-Georges, a violinist and composer from Guadeloupe, a French territory in the Caribbean Sea. He studied violin under Jean-Marie Leclerc and composition under François-Joseph Gosek, and his talent was recognized so much that he became a player in Gosek's orchestra. As a composer, he left many symphonies, string quartets, and other works. The solo violin part is oriented toward virtuosity, and the higher register and moving passages are unique compared to Haydn's and Mozart's concertos. Here, Renaud's passionate, lustrous, gorgeous, and melancholy tone is reproduced in an expression that could be said to be his own. Warner Music Japan
