The Crossroads of Bach and Contemporary Music by Master Accordionist Sidorova] Kseniya Sidorova's passionate and delicate accordion playing in "Carmen" released on the DG label and her previous album Piazzolla fully revealed the excellence of this instrument, which is not considered a major player in classical music. This second album from ALPHA features works by the great Bach and contemporary works influenced by him. In the opening concerto, we were first surprised by the unexpected and outstanding chemistry, and in the organ chorale "We Call to Thee", the deep singing at a much slower tempo and the accordion's unique use of sound brought a fresh taste to the piece. The contemporary works recorded with the accordion are all based on slow and relaxed compositions, and the beauty of the classical accordion's versatile tone quality and the superb use of the left and right keyboards are richly expressive, while at the same time entertaining and enchanting. The orchestra from her native Latvia is also an attractive feature of the concert. This album presents another aspect of the accordion, and allows us to enjoy its wide-ranging appeal. Naxos Japan
