Krzysztof Herzin was born in 1970 in Brzygoszcz, Poland.She studied piano at a local music academy with Katarzyna Popova Zidoron and others, and after graduation she has worked as a pianist and arranger in the fields of jazz and pop music. He has produced more than 20 albums spanning a variety of genres and has actively participated in the recording of more than 200 CDs. This album includes the 2018 Requiem. Herzin says, "I deeply believe that reflecting on death and the transience of life can help us find our way." He explains that only contemplation and acceptance of death can bring peace of mind. He also eliminates from the work the pain and suffering of "Dies irae, Day of Wrath," and in consultation with a theologian, he has created a newly constructed, cheerful piece, "Kyrie eleison," in part, "welcoming and thanking the risen Jesus, the triumphant King. Familiar melodies are also used throughout the work, at times reminiscent of glamorous film music, and the light-filled melody in the final "In paradisum Paradise" gently envelopes the heart of sorrow.
