Jack Stump: Chamber Works, Vol. 2 American composer John Stump (aka Jack), who will celebrate his 70th birthday on March 5, 2024, is a well-known figure in the brass band community. He met the Barcelona Clarinet Players in 2018 and wrote "Fragments" in 2022. He continued to receive commissions from them, and the following year he composed "Convergence Convergence," a dance-like piece with catchy rhythms, combining his specialty of percussion ensemble and clarinet quartet, and in 2023, "Philosophy of Love," a collection of songs for soprano and piano composed nearly 30 years earlier. In 2023, he revised "Philosophy of Love," a collection of songs for soprano and piano composed nearly 30 years earlier, for soprano and clarinet quartet, and reworked it as a new work incorporating the techniques of the clarinet.
