Platé: Harp Quartets This is a collection of works by the Bohemian composer and harpist Anton Edvard Plathe, who was active in the 19th century. Accompanied by his father, a mechanic for traveling marionette shows, Plathe played the harp from an early age while touring various countries, and in 1809, at the age of 12, he is said to have played in Sweden. Two years later, he gave a concert in Linköping and began his career as a serious harpist and music teacher. He is recorded as one of the best harpists who performed in the Austrian capital in 1848. In his later years, he lived near Linköping, where he spent the rest of his life. This album contains two chamber pieces for harp, recorded for the first time in the world. The sparkling sound of the harp's superb technique blends with the other instruments in these brilliant works. The Swedish-French harpist Konstantin Reznik and a group of musicians who have performed with her frequently perform these pieces in an intimate setting.
